Spartans for a cause –
Go Green Wear Pink is an annual event put on by Spartans for the Cure, a breast cancer awareness organization at Michigan State University. “…breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S. Breast cancer knows no boundaries – be it age, gender, socio-economic status or geographic location. But there is hope”(ACS). MSU’s Go Green Wear Pink, is doing it’s part in turning hopes and dreams into reality.
The goal of Go Green Wear Pink is to raise money to better the lives of those impacted by breast cancer while engaging and educating the campus and the community. For one week, October 15th – 19th 2012, we compete with the University of Michigan’s Go Blue Wear Pink, to see who can raise the most funds through t-shirt sales and other events. All of the profits we raise are donated to the Mid-Michigan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Why MSU SPARTANS are #1
This will be GGWP’s second year. Last year was our first year during which we sold over 2,000 t-shirts in a one week span in October. Thanks to the t-shirt sales and other GGWP promotional activities, we were able to raise over $28,000, earning a profit just below $17,000which was ultimately donated to the Mid-Michigan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Spartans support other Spartans! Spartans don’t let other Spartans fail!
So we call on everyone in the MSU community – sororities, fraternities ( real men wear pink to support their women), groups, organizations, individuals, businesses and especially our alumni, to lend their support.
This year the Spartans’ GGWP’s hopes to raise even more money for the cause through
t-shirt sales, events, a raffle and donations. If you missed Rachel Lahring and the GGWP team, Kick- off party at Chandlers Crossing on the 12th or the GGWP’s invades Ricks Bar on the 17th, don’t worry you can always Pie a Wolverine at the Rock (10am-4pm), buy more T-shirts, enter the raffle, with the prize drawings to take place this Friday. Raffle prizes include a; signed Lion’s picture, a free oil change, a free tire rotation, jewelry, a tanning, a free round of golf, basket and many others.
